Scottish industrialist and philanthropist Andrew Carnegie (1835 - 1919). The son of a Dunfermline linen weaver, Carnegie emigrated to Pittsburgh in 1848. After the American Civil War (1861 - 1865) he moved into the production of iron and steel. Carnegie became one of the richest men of his day. A multi-millionaire, he retired to Skibo Castle in Sutherland and donated $350 million to many charities and over 1700 libraries in America and Britain. They were residents of Scotland but due to poverty and hunger, these people came to America in search of work. Andrew could not even study due to the poverty of the house and at the young age of 13, the responsibility of taking care of the household burden fell on his shoulders.
13-year-old Andrew took a small job in a clothing factory where he had to work hard for 12 hours and seven days, but only the person who has perseverance has the ability to make diamonds from coal.
Andrew used to take time out from work to read stories of successful people and take inspiration from them. Gradually, time passed, and a few days later, Andrew also took up the job of a postman. The city had a large library with a huge collection of books.

Thinking this, the company was average in the beginning of the establishment of a company named Carnegie Steel Corporation, but it was the result of hard work and dedication of Andrew Carnegie that in a few years Andrew became the steel king and very soon he got the award of Builders of America. There was a time when Andrew Carnegie’s single company produced more steel than the whole of Britain.
And this passion one day made Andrew the “richest person in the world”, in 1889, Andrew Carnegie was declared the richest person in the world.
